Drop a photo of a person, a pet or an object. It is cut out, given a white outline and a soft shadow, and laid out as a 512 × 512 transparent WebP, the size messaging sticker packs use.

The sticker recipe

A sticker is a cut-out with a border around it, so it reads on any chat background. The recipe adds a white outline with rounded joins and a soft drop shadow, trims the canvas to the subject and keeps the background transparent. Outline color and width are in the Finish stage: white, black or any color, from thin to chunky.

The sticker spec layout then puts the result on a 512 × 512 canvas with at least 16 pixels of margin, as WebP, aiming for 100 KB or less. Those figures come from the published WhatsApp sticker format for static stickers; check the current specification before you build a pack, because formats change.

The receipt

After download, the receipt under the button lists the sticker's size, format and file size against the spec, and turns amber if any one of them is off, for example if your browser cannot write WebP. Safari writes WebP from version 17; on older versions choose PNG.

A whole pack at once

Drop a folder or several photos and the bulk queue opens with the sticker recipe selected: each picture is cut out, outlined and laid out at 512 × 512, one after another on your device, and the set downloads as one ZIP. Any picture that needs a look, because the subject was hard to find or touches the edges of the photo, is marked with the reason, and you can open it in the full editor to fix it.

Good photos for stickers

Subjects with a clear outline work best: a face and shoulders, a pet sitting up, a cup, a shoe. Keep the whole subject in the frame, since anything cut off by the photo's edge will be cut off on the sticker too. Fine hair is handled by the person model and the Hair detail control, and the outline hides small imperfections at the edge.

Step by step

  1. Open a photo. Or a folder of photos for a whole pack.
  2. Let it cut out. The subject is detected and the sticker recipe applied.
  3. Style the outline. Change color and width in Finish.
  4. Apply the sticker spec. 512 × 512 WebP with a 16 px margin.
  5. Download. Check the receipt against the spec.

Questions people ask

What size are the stickers?

512 × 512 pixels, transparent WebP, with at least 16 pixels of margin and a 100 KB target, following the published WhatsApp static sticker format. Verify the current spec before publishing a pack.

Can I make a sticker without an outline?

Yes. Turn off Outline in the Finish stage; the transparent cut-out is kept.

Can I make many stickers at once?

Yes. Drop several photos or a folder; the bulk queue runs the sticker recipe on each and downloads one ZIP.

My browser saves PNG instead of WebP. Why?

Some older browsers, including Safari before version 17, cannot write WebP. The receipt warns you; use a current browser for WebP stickers.
